CHILE: Debate and divisions over pensions withdrawal initiative
On 10 July, Chile’s Economy Minister Lucas Palacios expressed his disappointment with what he described as the irresponsibility and short-termism of lawmakers who voted to push forward with a bill which would allow Chileans to dip into their pension funds, to help them deal with the economic fallout of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
