* Peruvian extractive industry lobby Sociedad Nacional de Minería, Petróleo y Energía (SNMPE) has reported that mining exports fell by 51.8% year-on-year in May, down from US$2.33bn in 2019 to just US$1.12bn this year. This fall included significant declines in exports of gold (down 60.3% to US$294m) and copper (down 40.2% to US$655m). According to the SNMPE, mining exports totalled US$8.39bn in the first five months of 2020, down 23.8% on the previous year.
