Peru’s President Martín Vizcarra announced the replacement of half his ministerial team on 15 July, against a background of his government’s falling popularity due to a long coronavirus (Covid-19) lockdown and a rapidly deteriorating economy. A total of 10 new cabinet ministers have been appointed while two have changed their roles. The new ministerial team is made up of 11 men and eight women. Pedro Cateriano becomes the new prime minister, while economist Rafael Belaúnde is brought in to head the ministry of energy and mines.End of preview - This article contains approximately 580 words.
