CHILE: Piñera defeated over pensions
Chileans are angry again. Despite the coronavirus (Covid-19) lockdown there were pots-and-pans protests and some looting in Santiago and various other cities on the night of 14 July. The following day President Sebastián Piñera suffered a major defeat in congress over changes to the privatised pension system.
