Aerial spraying back on the cards in Colombia
Colombia’s Defence Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo said on 13 July that the government was preparing to recommence aerial spraying of illicit coca crops. Spraying is strongly supported by the US but it is opposed by environmental activists and peace campaigners who say it is not an adequate alternative to the substitution of legal crops, as well as constituting a health hazard.
