In brief: Brazil lifts air travel ban for foreign tourists

* The Brazilian government has reopened international air travel to foreign tourists, which had been banned since March as part of efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19), although prohibitions remain in five states: Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Rondônia, Rio Grande do Sul, and Tocantins. Tourists from all countries may travel to Brazil as long as they have health insurance for the duration of their trip. The announcement comes despite the fact that Brazil has the second highest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the world (over 2.5m), and a death toll in excess of 90,000 people.
