* Mexico’s Centro de Estudios Económicos del Sector Privado (CEESP), a private sector think-tank, has warned that the increase in economic activity observed in various sectors since Mexico’s economy began reopening in May does not mean that the domestic economy is recovering to the levels of 2018 or 2019. In its weekly economic analysis, CEESP explained that the rise in industrial production and employment has produced favourable results, but noted that the evolution of investment and consumption depends on confidence in the rule of law. CEESP explained that
“the diminished confidence, the investment uncertainty and the weakness and precariousness of the labour market, amongst other factors, will undoubtedly continue to inhibit growth”.
