COSTA RICA-EL SALVADOR | Historic agreement to establish ferry line. On 1 September, El Salvador and Costa Rica signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a cargo ferry transport route between the two countries along the Pacific coastline to avoid congestion and logistical problems posed by terrestrial transport in Central America. The ferry will run between the Unión Port in El Salvador and the Caldera Port in Costa Rica.
