In brief: Remittances starting to recover in Bolivia

* Bolivia’s central bank (BCB) has reported that the value of remittances sent back by Bolivians living abroad totalled US$97.4m in July, up 12.9% on the US$86.3m recorded in June, after the flow of remittances reached a historic low in April due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, totalling just US$31.2m. However, remittances have still not recovered to pre-pandemic levels, as the total for July represented a 16.2% decline year-on-year, compared to the US$116.2m sent back to Bolivia in July 2019.
