In brief: Colombia sees slight deflation in August

*Colombia’s national statistics institute (Dane) has released figures which show that the country saw monthly deflation of 0.01% in August, bringing annual inflation to 1.88%. Inflation has dropped rapidly since the onset of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic; having recorded 3.86% annual inflation in March, this figure has now fallen to the lowest level since 2013, below the central bank’s (Banrep) 2%-4% target range.
