During a press conference, BBVA highlighted that M$2.2bn was paid in March, to account for the 2006-2008 period, and that the remaining M$1bn corresponding to the 2012-2015 period was disbursed yesterday (9 September). BBVA also stated that
“with this agreement, the differences in criteria [with the SAT] relating to income tax are resolved, and the tributary collection by the SAT is eased at a time that the country needs financial resources due to the economic situation it is facing”. BBVA Bancomer joins other businesses that have resolved their outstanding taxes with the SAT this year, including the telecommunications corporation América Móvil, the multinational drinks company Femsa, and the brewery Grupo Modelo.
