Pandemic puts treatment of Mexicans in Canada in the spotlight

The death of at least three Mexican migrant workers due to coronavirus (Covid-19) in Canada has prompted Mexico’s national human rights commission (CNDH) to launch an investigation into the circumstances in which they died and the situation of Mexican migrant workers in Canada. The matter could become a key issue in the bilateral agenda going forward, as both the Mexican and Canadian governments are under pressure to show that they are doing all they can to ensure the safety of migrants and that all their rights are being respected.
