BOLIVIA: Disinformation campaign prompts election concerns

Bolivia’s interim president Jeanine Áñez was forced to admit on 3 September that her government had indeed hired CLS Strategies - a US-based strategic communications firm accused of creating fake social media accounts to promote support for a number of Latin American leaders - but denied that the company had been commissioned for this purpose, and insisted that its activities did not amount to foreign interference in Bolivia’s 18 October general election.
