Ignacio Briones has said that in the finance ministry’s public finances report for the third quarter of 2020, which is due to be published today (2 October), the government has adjusted Chile’s GDP growth forecast for 2020 to -5.5%, an improvement on the previous -6.5% forecast which it published in its last quarterly report. The latest report on the monthly index for economic activity (Imacec) released by Chile’s central bank (BCCh) shows that economic activity fell 11.3% in August compared with the same month in 2019, although seasonally adjusted figures show that the monthly Imacec in August was up 2.8% compared with July.
