In brief: Ecuador faces further deflation

* Ecuador’s national statistics institute (Inec) has reported an annual inflation figure of -0.90% for September. This is the third consecutive month of deflation, down from -0.76% in August, and is Ecuador’s lowest annual inflation figure for any month since May 2018. Inec noted that the only areas in which prices increased were health, communications, and alcohol and tobacco.
