In brief: Paraguay posts rise in FDI in 2019

* Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released new figures which show that net foreign direct investment (FDI) to the country totalled US$522m in 2019, up 14.1% on 2018. Regarding specific sectors, financial intermediation accounted for 18.7% of inflows, followed by processing of oils (14.4%), transport (12.8%), trade (12.3%), chemical products (5.7%), and real estate activities (4.8%). The BCP report highlighted the increasing number of investor countries, rising to 43 in 2019 from 20 in 2008.
