In brief: ILO warns on unemployment in Mexico

* The International Labour Organization (ILO) has issued a new report, warning that the rate of unemployment among the economically active population (PEA) in Mexico could close at 11.7% by the end of 2020, equivalent to some 6m people, as a result of the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The report notes that the sectors most affected are manufacturing, trade, real estate and accommodation, and preparation of food and drink. The ILO also warns that the total number of jobs at risk of being affected by the pandemic exceeds 24m, representing 44% of total employment in the country.
