BRAZIL: Environment minister under fire, again

On 13 October, Brazil’s Environment Minister Ricardo Salles told a senate committee that the federal government is only responsible for 6% of the total surface of the Pantanal wetlands, and argued that the government has more than adequately performed its responsibilities in protecting the environment there.
