* Brazil’s national council of coffee exporters (Cecafé) has released the sector’s results for September, according to which coffee exports reached a new record high for that month. Brazil exported a combined 3.8m sacks of green, soluble, and roasted & ground coffee (one sack is 60kg), an 8.6% increase on September 2019, while the income generated totalled US$458m, a 3.6% yearly increase.
Nelson Carvalhaes, Cecafé’s president, noted that producers are
“very satisfied” with these results – which would have been better still had it not been for logistical issues – and highlighted the coffee sector’s robust performance despite the
“challenges” posed by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
