* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released its latest statistics for the external sector, which show that foreign direct investment (FDI) to the country remains at very low levels. FDI totalled US$1.6bn in September, below the predicted sum of around US$2bn, and representing a sharp drop from the US$6bn registered in September 2019. This September’s FDI levels are the lowest recorded for that month since 2005. In the 12 months to September, FDI to Brazil totalled US$50bn, equivalent to 3.31% of GDP (the lowest level recorded since July 2018).
