COLOMBIA: Security debate continues to dominate agenda

The pressure on Colombia’s defence minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo shows no signs of letting up, as he was this week caught up in another controversy linked to congressional efforts to summon him for a vote of censure. The chances of such a vote passing are very slim, yet Trujillo’s fierce resistance to all efforts to hold him to account have turned this into a protracted struggle, only drawing more attention to the security failings he stands accused of causing [WR-20-39].
