Growing concern over judicial independence

More than 700 prominent Colombian civil society organisations and campaigners signed a statement on 14 October condemning the government’s “authoritarian onslaught” on the country’s judicial institutions. The ‘campaign for judicial independence’ brought together legal experts, human rights groups, trade unions, journalists, politicians, and many more, to warn President Iván Duque and his administration against the “politicisation of justice”.
