Belize opposition wipes floor with ruling party

Johnny Briceño was sworn-in as prime minister of Belize for the People’s United Party (PUP) on 12 November. The PUP ended the bid of the United Democratic Party (UDP), under new leader Patrick Faber, to secure a fourth straight term in general elections held the previous day [WR-20-45]. Faber conceded defeat early before the resounding nature of the PUP’s victory was fully apparent.
