ECUADOR: Workers challenge labour policy plans

President Lenín Moreno’s economic reform agenda may have won the support of international financial institutions and foreign creditors [WR-20-31], but these plans have been less well-received by much of the Ecuadorean public. Moreno announced on 30 November that a new package of labour reforms is “almost ready” to be presented to the legislature – but with workers increasingly speaking out against some of the government’s recent policies, these further changes are likely to face similar opposition.
