* The Brazilian private sector lobby Confederação Nacional do Comércio de Bens, Serviços e Turismo (CNC) has forecast that the country’s retail sector will see its highest sales in nine years in 2021. The CNC revised up its forecast for annual sale growth this year from 3.9% to 4.5%, which would represent the biggest yearly increase for the sector since the 8.4% growth that was recorded in 2012. The improved forecast followed the publication of figures from the national statistics institute (Ibge) which showed that the retail sector grew by 1.4% in May compared to the previous month, and by 16% year-on-year.
