The western Venezuelan state of Apure has been embroiled in conflict since late March, when clashes erupted between the dissident 10th Front of the disbanded Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) guerrilla group and the Venezuelan military (FANB). Limited information has indicated that the FANB is struggling to regain control, with the violence threatening to spill into other states.
