PARAGUAY: Resurgence of violence in north

A wave of deadly violence has hit northern Paraguay this week. There has been a series of armed attacks that the authorities have attributed to the Ejército del Pueblo Paraguayo (EPP) insurgent guerrilla group and its spinoff organisations that are said to operate in the area. This is putting pressure on the government led by President Mario Abdo Benítez to redouble its efforts to reinforce public security in the north of the country.
