In brief: Brazil’s economic activity picks up in June

* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released the latest data on its monthly index of economic activity (IBC-Br), which saw a monthly positive variation of 1.14% in June, after contracting 0.43% in May. In year-on-year terms, the IBC-Br – which serves as a proxy for GDP – grew 9.07% in June, and 13.17% in the second quarter of this year.
