Colombia’s President Iván Duque arrived in South Korea on 24 August for his first major foreign trip since the start of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The three-day state visit to Seoul delivered some benefits, with Duque and his South Korean counterpart, Moon Jae-in, pledging to deepen ties in digital, environmental, and cultural matters. Duque is still awaiting confirmation on whether he has secured the trip's biggest prize, however, having presented a letter of intent for Colombia to join the Seoul-based International Vaccine Institute (IVI).
