According to the Serviço de Apoio às Micro e Pequenas Empresas (Sebrae), a lobby group, 229,368 formal jobs were created by micro & small businesses in July, out of the total 316,580 new formal sector jobs recorded by the economy ministry’s employment registry (Caged) for that month. Carlos Melles, has stressed that micro & small businesses have been showing a positive record on employment for a year now, following on from the first impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
“They are the motor of our economy and the path of recovery to growth,” Melles said of Brazil’s small businesses. Over the first seven months of 2021, 1.8m formal jobs have been created in Brazil according to Caged figures, of which 1.3m are in micro & small businesses.
