In brief: Chile’s inflation slows

* Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has reported that the country’s consumer price index (IPC) rose 0.4% in August 2021, driven by price increases in housing, basic services, and hospitality. This brings annual inflation to 4.8% in August, above the central bank’s (BCCh) 3% target. Nevertheless, the August figure represents a slowdown in inflation after the IPC grew 0.8% in July.
