In brief: Inflation slows in Argentina

* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released data for the consumer price index (IPC), showing that monthly inflation stood at 2.5% in August, bringing annual inflation to 51.4%. This continues a trend of decelerating monthly inflation since April, with August seeing the lowest monthly price increases since July 2020. Monthly inflation was highest in the education (4.2%) and health (4.2%) sectors, while the smallest price increase was in housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels (1.1%). The communications sector was the only area that saw a fall in prices, with deflation of -0.6%.
