* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures on trade flows, which show that the country recorded a US$2.34bn surplus in August. This represents a 61.7% increase on a year earlier, with overall trade flows for the month growing 63.6% to US$13.85bn. Exports grew 63.3% to US$8.09bn, while imports expanded 64% to US$5.75bn. However, Argentina saw a trade deficit with its second and third largest trade partners in August: China (a US$175m deficit) and the US (US$211m). In the eight months to August 2021, Argentina recorded a US$10.65bn trade surplus, down 5.25% on the trade surplus recorded over the same period a year earlier.
