In brief: Colombia’s exports rise

* Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has published the latest export figures, showing that the total value of exports in September was US$3.57bn, up 40.4% on the same month in 2020. The September 2021 figure is 16.5% up on the US$3.07bn registered in September 2019, suggesting the export sector has recovered from the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. According to Dane, sales in September 2021 were mainly driven by a 74.8% rise in fuel exports and products from extractive industries, followed by manufacturing which was up 32.2% year-on-year, and agriculture, food, and drink (18.0%).
