In brief: Brazil’s unemployment rate keeps falling

* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for unemployment, which show that the unemployment rate totalled 12.6% in the third quarter of the year. This is down from 14.2% in the second quarter, and a drop from 14.9% in July-September 2020. Some 13.5m Brazilians are now looking for work, compared with 14.8m in the April-June quarter, while the employed population has grown by 3.6m quarter-on-quarter to 93m people in Q3.
