In brief: Panama’s unemployment declines

* Panama’s national statistics institute (INEC) has presented new figures which show that the national unemployment rate in Panama was 11.3% in October. This is down from 14.5% in June 2021 and 18.5% in December 2020 – the highest rate in 20 years due to the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which caused Panama’s GDP to contract 17.9% in 2020.
