In brief: Panama’s tax haul exceeds forecast

*Publio De Gracia, the director of Panama’s tax authority (DGI) has presented new figures which show that Panama’s tax take totalled US$4.34bn as of December 2021, up 6.72% on the budgeted target and up from US$3.89bn as of December 2020. He highlighted that during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, tax relief measures benefitted 259,947 contributors representing a “fiscal sacrifice” of US$93.4m.
