In brief: Colombia’s Duque hails record GDP growth

* Colombia’s President Iván Duque has announced that the country registered its “greatest economic growth in our history” in 2021, with GDP rising by 10.2%. This was greater than the 9.7% growth in 2021 that Duque had estimated at the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Davos, Switzerland, on 19 January. He called the latest figures a sign of Colombia’s “resilience” after a 6.8% GDP contraction in 2020.
