In brief: Job creation slows in Brazil

* Brazil’s labour ministry has published the latest figures from the national employment registry (Novo Caged), which show that a net 136,189 jobs were created in the formal sector in March. This is the result of 1.95m job openings and 1.81m job losses during the month and brings the total number of formal jobs in Brazil to 41.29m. The March figures represent a significant slowing of employment growth, with job openings in March totalling less than half of the 328,507 that were recorded in February.
