Uncertainty remains despite electricity reform rejection

On 17 April, Mexico’s lower chamber voted against President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s electricity reform, which had sought to increase state control of power generation and therefore reverse one of the central features of the sector’s liberalisation as undertaken by the previous administration of Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018).
