In brief: South Africa lifts anti-dumping restrictions on Brazilian frozen chicken

* South Africa has lifted anti-dumping restrictions on Brazilian frozen chicken, according to a joint statement by Brazil’s economy and foreign ministries. The anti-dumping tariffs, which varied from 6% to 265.1%, had been in force since December 2021, when the South African government declared that Brazilian frozen chicken imports were harming local producers. According to the statement, Brazilian exports to South Africa in 2021 totalled more than US$1bn, of which almost 17% consisted of frozen chicken.
