* Sindicato Independiente de Trabajadores de la Industria Automotriz, Similares y Conexos “Volkswagen México” (SITIAVW), the union at the main Mexico factory for multinational car manufacturer Volkswagen in Puebla state, has announced that it will hold a new vote on 31 August to ask workers whether they approve a recently negotiated deal with Volkswagen de México which, among other things, includes wage increases of 9%. The plan, agreed by SITIAVW with the company’s management, failed to pass a workers’ vote held on 5 August This led Mexico’s federal labour conciliation and registration centre (CFCRL) to order a restaging of the process to ensure higher turnout.
