The percentage breakdown revealed a 7.9% increase in the private sector and an increase of 4.1% in the public sector. The overall figure equates to an increase of 326,000 jobs compared to June 2021, putting Peru’s total formal workforce at 5.29m according to a labour ministry statement. The statement outlined that there has been improvement in all economic sectors, with particularly high increases in the service (11.8%) and commercial (5.9%) sectors. Mining and manufacturing also saw increases of 3.7% and 3.5% respectively.
