REGION: New reports highlight continued threat of food insecurity

On 6 July a string of United Nations (UN) agencies released their latest ‘State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World’ (SOFI) report. This contained more stark warnings about food insecurity in Central America, which is facing the continuing impacts from Hurricanes Eta and Iota in late 2020, the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and, more recently, rising prices of energy, fertiliser, and agricultural inputs as a result of the Ukraine war.
