In brief: Argentina’s economic activity slows

* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures on its monthly index of economic activity (Emae), showing that economic activity showed no variation in July 2022 as compared to the previous month. However, in year-on-year terms, economic activity was up 5.6%. This represents a slowdown both in terms of monthly and annual growth compared to June 2022. The sectors which posted the highest growth year-on-year in July 2022 were hotels & restaurants (+45.7%) and mining & quarrying (+13.6%). Three sectors recorded yearly decreases, these were fishing (-4.1%), agriculture, farming & forestry (-2.7%) and electricity, gas & water (-2.1%).
