Andrés Manuel López Obrador has said that the head of Mexico’s tax authority (SAT),
Raquel Buenrostro and
Antonio Martínez, the general administrator for large taxpayers, had given him a list of 20-30 national and foreign companies that are behind in their payments. López Obrador estimated that the companies owe the treasury around M$100bn (US$5bn). López Obrador explained that in some cases it is because audits had not been completed and they had not been notified, while “
there are others who do not accept the new reality”.
