In brief: Panama sues over late delivery of airport terminal

* Raffoul Arab, the general manager of Panama City’s Tocumen international airport (AITSA), the main international airport serving Panama’s capital and one of the region’s most important transport hubs, has announced that the firm is suing CNO, S.A. (formerly Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, a subsidiary of Brazilian construction and engineering giant Odebrecht) for US$20.7m over damages and losses stemming from the late delivery of a second terminal at Panama City’s Tocumen airport. The new terminal (2) opened in June after serious delays to its planned expansion programme. Odebrecht, now known as Novonor, was at the heart of one of the biggest bribery scandals to afflict the region and Panama.
