*Brazil’s state-controlled oil company Petrobras has announced that it signed a contract with Singapore-based group Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters to build another new platform in its Búzios field (Rio de Janeiro state). The platform, known as P-82, is scheduled to start operating in 2026 and will have the capacity to produce up to 225,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd). It is the second new platform to be recently announced by Petrobras for the Búzios field. In late-September, Petrobras
awarded Keppel Shipyard Limited a contract to build platform P-83, which will begin production in 2027 and will also have capacity to produce up to 225,000 bpd. Búzios is today one of Brazil’s most productive oil fields, having four platforms in operation and four under construction, apart from the two platforms recently commissioned (P-82 and P-83). “
The P-82 will be the 29th unit to go into production in the pre-salt [deep water oil reserves] and is part of Petrobras’ new generation of platforms, which are characterised by their high production capacity and by their innovative low-carbon technologies,” Petrobras wrote in a press note.
