In brief: Investment in mining exploration up in Peru

* Peru’s mining and energy ministry has announced that US$267m was invested in mining exploration between January and August this year – a 40.3% increase on the same period in 2021. In August, US$40m was invested in mining exploration, representing an 8.3% increase on the previous month and a 45.6% increase on August 2021. In a statement, the mining and energy ministry said that the growth “reflects the confidence that investors maintain in the enormous geological potential that exists in the national territory, and confirms Peru as a destination of growing interest for investors and mining companies”.
