On 12 October, Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro (Partido Liberal, PL), who is seeking re-election in the 30 October presidential run-off, visited the Basilica of Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Aparecida (São Paulo state), where huge masses celebrated the day of Brazil’s patron saint, after whom the basilica was named.
